Shelter
Facilities -
Men’s Shelter: 28 Beds
Women’s Shelter: 14 Beds
Each of our clients are subject to a
breath alcohol test before checking into the shelter at night. This
is to protect all of our clients and provide a safe
environment. The guests are required to attend the nightly
chapel service, provided by area ministers. An average of 40 men
sleep in the chapel, hallways, and dining room when we run out of
room for them.
Jobs
Housing for
Men
and Women -
The Mission can house up to
18 men and
8 women in a
affordable transitional living facility. The clients live in a separate dorm from
the emergency shelter that provides lockers to store personal belongings. The fee is $60 a
week for the program, which includes three meals a day, chapel services and evening
classes, use of laundry facilities, and counseling. The applicant must have full-time
employment and remain drug and alcohol free.

DayCenter-
|
|
In 2003 and 2004 the parks,
sidewalks, and library in the downtown area were playing host to
hundreds of homeless people. The city was beginning to worry
about a negative image and approached the Mission for a solution.
Surveys conducted by the Mission revealed that many of its clients
lack transportation, making it nearly impossible to efficiently find
the resources needed.
The Panama City Rescue Mission
responded with a one-stop-center to bring resources to the centrally
located clients. Through our partnership with local human service
agencies we provide a
range of needed services at one location. The day center also gives the opportunity
to minister to these clients to better assist them in changing their lives. We
provide services to an average of 80 people per day.
